The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk has become something of a tradition at your Food Town, and for a pretty great reason. With our deep roots in Houston and status as a neighborhood grocery, we’re big on giving back to those around us. We’ve been a proud sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer walk for years now, and this year we’d like to invite you to get involved! Here are some things you should know:
What is the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Event?
An annual event that’s been going on for more than 20 years, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer brings people of all ages, walks of life and backgrounds together in the fight against breast cancer. Although there are other ways to take part, it centers around fundraising efforts at places such as your Food Town, and breast cancer walks that take place all over. During these walks, people come together in honor of — or support for — those battling cancer. The goal is to raise awareness and to bring in funds to support research efforts.
Here in Houston, our 2021 breast cancer walk takes place Saturday, November 13, at CityCentre. It’s a morning event that, in addition to the traditional walk, will also feature vendor booths, giveaways, a kids’ zone, survivor parade and all sorts of other offerings. (You can learn more on the event website!) As a presenting partner, you can bet your friends at Food Town will be out there rooting folks on and taking part in the fun!
