Easy Broiled Shrimp


  • 1 pound thawed shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)
  • 1 tablespoon olive or avocado oil
  • Kosher or sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste (can also use your favorite seasoning mix)


  1. Preheat the oven to Broil. Arrange the baking rack about 5 inches away from the top heating element.
  2. Place shrimp in a large mixing bowl and pat dry with paper towels. Add oil and toss until the shrimp are coated. Season generously with salt and pepper, or cajun seasoning, and any other desired seasonings.
  3. Transfer the shrimp to a large baking sheet and arrange in an even layer. (Be sure not to overlap.)
  4. Broil for 3-6 minutes, or until the shrimp are bright reddish-pink and opaque. (you may want to flip after 2 minutes or rotate the tray for even cooking.) Remove from the oven and transfer to a serving dish.  Serve with lemon & melted butter if desired.
    Cook time depends on the size of the shrimp; watch carefully.  Shrimp are done when the internal temperature is 145°F (63°C). This temperature ensures that the shrimp are fully cooked and safe to eat.
