Cabbage, a part of the cruciferous vegetable family, is a versatile and inexpensive vegetable that can be cooked or eaten raw. Full of nutrients and fiber, most cabbages contain less than 20 calories per half-cup cooked. And at Food Town, you’ll find different varieties of Cabbage – always fresh and at low prices.
Green Cabbage is a leafy green vegetable that grows in tight, spherical heads. Cook Cabbage in various ways: stir-fried, sauteed, simmered in soups, steamed, and braised. Corned beef and Cabbage or Colcannon are traditional Irish dishes that use Cabbage. Green Cabbage is frequently served raw in salads and coleslaw. Raw leaves are somewhat peppery in flavor, but the Cabbage gets sweeter as it cooks. It can also be pickled and made into sauerkraut.
Red Cabbage is similar to Green but with dark reddish-purple leaves: Its raw, earthy flavor is mainly used in coleslaw and leafy green salad mixes.
Bok Choy, sometimes called Chinese Cabbage, is a popular vegetable in Asian cuisine. It has a mild, fresh, and grassy flavor with a slight peppery kick. Bok Choy is best used in a stir-fry, grilled, or roasted.
