Easy French Onion Soup by Pioneer

Prep: 5 min, Cook: 20 min
4 Servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 thinly sliced onions
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 1 pkg Pioneer Au Jus Gravy Mix
  • 1/2 tsp dries thyme leaves
  • To taste croutons
  • To taste shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Combine butter, onions and sugar in a large sauté pan and cook over low heat for 15 minutes.
  2. Once the onions are golden brown, add red wine and reduce until very little liquid remains. Remove from heat and reserve.
  3. In a medium saucepot combine Pioneer Au Jus Gravy Mix and beef broth and whisk vigorously.
  4. Heat the mixture over medium flame until it starts to simmer and thicken.
  5. Add onions and continue to simmer over medium heat for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish with croutons and cheese and serve!
