June is National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month and, as the American Heart Association notes, the first step toward healthy eating is to incorporate fruits and vegetables to every meal and snack. The great news is, eating your colors can be both tasty and convenient! With options for fresh, frozen, canned or dried fruits and vegetables, your Food Town has the variety you need for a mouthwatering Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month.

What makes fruits and veggies such an important part of our everyday diets? For starters, they’re a great way to get the fiber, protein and nutrients we need to stay energized for the day ahead and maintain a healthy lifestyle. That’s right, vegetables ranging from bell peppers and squash, to leafy greens, cucumbers and onions are all working to keep you healthy. Meanwhile, their fruity counterparts — the bananas, blueberries, strawberries, mangos and even watermelon you love — are a sweet way to amp up your nutrient intake. 

There are all sorts of ways to ensure you are incorporating the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables into you daily diet. (And each option is delicious in its own way!) Say cheers  to seasonal fruits and vegetables with a refreshing glass of raspberry lemonade or an avocado cocktail, both full of vitamins and minerals! Of course, you can incorporate your fruits and vegetables into a yummy dish of cauliflower rice or grill your favorite veggies to serve up alongside that perfect cut of beef.
