2022 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Event Brings in $50,000 for a Great Cause

For years now, October and early November have served as a special time at your Food Town. It’s when we run our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, a chance for customers, vendors and team members at all 30 Houston-area stores to come together in support of friends and neighbors, and in solidarity against a disease that affects so many.

And our 2022 event was one of our best years yet, bringing in an incredible $50,000 in support of breast cancer research and awareness!

How did it all happen? We’re glad you asked.

Our team dove in in early October, decorating our stores, donning fun themed shirts and finding creative ways to get word out about ways we can all make a difference. Of course, it isn’t just Food Town team members who get involved.

One key element of our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the opportunity for Food Town shoppers to make monetary donations to support breast cancer research and awareness. When they give in-store, their names go up on the wall alongside others who felt called to give back. (At the end of the event, it’s always gratifying to see garlands of good deeds strung up across the front of our stores!) Of course, online donations are another convenient and welcome way to give, and one many people take us up on.

Another big part of our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, the in-person walk, was a bit different this year.

Because no formal walk was planned, your Food Town created our own! (What can we say? We’d miss it if we didn’t take part.) It was a fantastic morning of Food Town togetherness and a bit of exercise, and we all felt better off because of it.

Thank you to every customer, team member and vendor who helped to make this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event a resounding success. We appreciate your efforts, and we know others do, too. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
