Black Pepper Pretzels

Cook Time: 11-13 min

Makes 8 pretzels


  • 2 1/2 cups Pioneer Biscuit & Baking mix
  • 1 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tbsp. water for egg wash
  • Poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or onion flakes for sprinkling


  1. Preheat a conventional oven to 450˚F.
  2. Combine baking mix and pepper.
  3. Add chicken broth and stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead 10-12 times.
  5. Cut dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into an 18-inch rope, and twist into a pretzel shape and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Brush each pretzel with egg wash, then sprinkle with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or onion flakes, if desired.
  7. Bake for 11-13 minutes, until pretzels are crisp and golden brown.
