Food Town Smash Beef Burger Tacos

Time: 15-20 min

Serves 4

Ingredients

For Sauce*:

*or you can use a bottled burger sauce

For Burgers:

Directions

  1. If not using prepared sauce, make your sauce and set aside.
  2. Gather your other ingredients. Portion the beef into four 3.5 ounce balls
  3. Heat a griddle over high heat. When hot, season the beef with salt and pepper and place on the griddle.
  4. Quickly place a flour tortilla on top of the beef and smash it down using a burger press or a spatula. Press down to make sure it’s extremely thin. Let the meat cook for about 3 minutes or until the color of the beef has darkened and it’s crisp on the bottom.
  5. Carefully scrape up the tacos using a sturdy spatula and flip the tacos. Reduce the heat to low, add the cheese to the top of the burger patty and cover to allow the cheese to melt, about 1 more minute.
  6. Remove from the grill and top with lettuce, pickles, if desired, and a drizzle of the sauce.

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon relish
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce

For Burgers:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 (6-inch) flour tortillas
  • 2 slices American cheese, cut in half lengthwise
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
